A Letter From Dreaming Tree Founder, Leo Kowal

Happy first day of fall, Dreamers!

Today is a very bittersweet day for me. As you may or may not have heard, my days with SVGCuts are numbered due to irreconcilable differences between Mary and I. She and I are going our separate ways in love and business. In case you’re wondering, Mary is going to continue running SVGCuts, so don’t stress! She is and always will be the best in the business and SVGCuts will always be my baby and I will continue to help her should she need my assistance with anything.

I thought long and hard about getting back into the SVG world. I talked to many friends, customers, family members and even talked to myself. The analogy that really helped me decide was one from a close friend who said, “If you were a doctor or a real estate agent, would you stop practicing or selling homes”?. Of course I wouldn’t! I firmly believe that Mary and I played a major role in raising awareness in the world of off-the-page paper crafts. I know the industry so well, why would I walk away from it?

I begin planting the seed for Dreaming Tree in April of this year. It’s been a very long and trying summer. Locating and training a new artist was probably the most challenging part, but my first artist Kyle McDonald has surpassed my expectations and I’m sure he (along with the two other artists I have lined up) will be a force to reckon with in the coming years!

Dreaming Tree will meet or exceed the quality you’ve been accustomed to with SVGCuts. All of our files are meticulously cleaned up for flawless cutting, everything is tested to ensure proper fit, our photography and assembly videos are going to be even better than ever and the customer service you are used to will not change! I want you to have the best possible experience with our site and our files, so if you ever have any questions or doubts, please reach out to me!

With gratitude,

Leo Kowal

  65. Patricia says:

As many have expressed, where the heck have I been this whole time? Instead of hearing news about a forthcoming baby in the works, I hear some unsettling news. It no doubt has been a difficult time and major decision. We all reach milestones in our life and we need to do what makes us happy since we only get one chance at it. I know both of you will continue to support each other. While I, and many were elated for your marriage, many have expressed the sadness for the separation. BUT, I am excited to see your personal “touch” on these new cut files – they are a reflection of your personality. Thank you for continuing to express yourself in the paperworld for all of us to enjoy. With much hugs n support, Patti

  66. pattipet says:

Thank you for not leaving us and for bringing us new and exciting projects to cut and assemble. I just placed my first order and can hardly wait to put them together. Congratulations on your new venture!! I have been such a fan since I bought an explore . Whenever I had a question, you answered it so quickly, even on the weekends. I have already bought the whole store and am sure I will be a customer for a long time.

My only critique – you should change your Bears hat for a nice green and gold one 😉

  68. Carey L. Wells says:

It would be nice to see some card shapes ie. tri-folds etc. My heart is with both of you I am so glad you are still in the bus. please publish some magazines. I like the” crafters inspiration” But bet yours would be better, your knowledge amazes me. Hang in there.
    Best wishes
    Carey

  69. Graciela says:

I just purchased all of your new kits. I am loving the masculine designs as I have seven brothers 🙂 I am having some trouble from my end of the downloading process ( a Hughesnet user unfortunately) but I have confidence I will be able to get them all eventually. 79. Sheri says:

I am so glad you decided to start your own company. I’m so sorry to hear about you and Mary. Going through trials of my own, it’s gut wrenching and you wonder what happened. Wake up one day and the world as you know it is gone. I hope maybe someday you two will find yourselves back together , if that’s what is meant to be. I look forward to seeing more designs from your new team!!! Know you both will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hard to work and live together all the time. Life is strange, throwing curves you never saw coming or did and didn’t know what to do. While I thought here is a couple who found their passion and can do it together, I wasn’t living it. People can say you should do this and that, but YOU are the one living it. Stay strong Leo. You are in my prayers. Good luck on the new company, I have no doubt you will win Martha Stewarts award very soon in the future!!

  80. Diann says:

I had not heard this news and had wondered where SVG Cuts was because it was not appearing as I had grown accustomed. I am glad to know you are here and have decided to grow your own branch and I look forward to the items you will be sharing with us – both your talent and your designs. Let the healing begin. I am here for the growth.
Love to both you and Mary.

So sorry for the reason but excited about the new adventure. I’ve not been as active in the paper crafting since my time has been spent learning the world of machine embroidery but I am excited about the new style cards and things so far Dreaming Tree has offered. Now if I could get both my wolds together- Get some of SVGs files converted to PES( Embroidery) files and vice versa!

    Hi Leo,
Still looking for Cycling files. I had talked to you a year or two ago, maybe something the new design team might do? I got an e-mail from Dreaming Tree and and started watching one of the videos on u-tube and thought this has the feel of Leo. Sure enough it was. Sorry to hear about your break-up. Checked out your files and have to pick up a few of them looking forward to seeing more.

Hi Leo, I’m so sorry to hear about your breaking up, and wish you all the best. But I’m very happy that you decided to stay in the SVG field, so I hope and pray that your tree will blossom! Your start is great, the files even better, I like the more robuste feel of them. Good man-cards! However, you’ll probably like to add some more femine projects later on, LOL. Looking forward to all of them!!!

    Leo
My heart dropped when I just read the email you sent. I have purchased almost all of your SVG files from you and Mary. I truly missed those Friday nights waiting for the wee hours of that weeks files. We have talked on the phone once for about 40 mins talking about which new cutter to buy. I ended up with the eclips then bought a cameo and now a eclips 2. It had to be hard working and living together. I ended up closing my business when I got married but then opened a new one upon separation. I honestly started making cards because waitng to long for SVGCUTS to come out with another kit each time and I had to wait for 3 kits to order enough for a free kit. I really missed you guys and Mary and Leo was a household name. I for sure will start ordering from you tomorrow. I am glad you had the mailing list. I have been purchasing a lot of spellbinders and sizzix dies for cards. It would be great to have similar SVG files so we don’t have to buy the expensive Dies. I wish I could post a picture of my fireplace. It has your 3d letters with the acorn files and at the end your halloween tea lantern . Across the front is your jackolanturn banner with 3 d flowers on each end. In the fireplace is your fall basket that I made life size and in the basket is the apple pie box. Leaning against the fireplace is the scarecrow that I blew up the size. I look forward to your new company and wish you the very best.

Oh Leo, I was so excited to find your site. I stumbled on a few weeks ago. I loved what I seen. Then somehow I was looking for more Christmas ornaments and came across your site again. But I was unaware it was yours until I checked everything on the site. There was your big smile. You and I had several emails back and forth about you and Mary separating ways. Which I was so sad to hear. I am so proud of you Leo was jumping right in there and starting your own business. I know I have the best of both of you guys. I love what I am seeing, already started buying from you. Your customer service is always outstanding. And you fully understand us crafters. I love watching your tutorial. Wishing you the best on your new chapter. Thank you so much for being there for us all. We greatly appreciate all you do and teach us. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I am beyond sad you and Mary have split. I know you have already been told , “marriage is a lot of work, ups, and down, etc.” So I will try not to do any more preaching. What I will/am doing is praying for both of you. You belong together, you create beautiful work together, and I just have a sense for these things. I pray you can work it out, continue to combine both your talents and hearts together.

Will continue to follow you as well. You seem like a great, honest, trustworthy young man, but do does Mary. Love you both!

  107. Sue says:

I thought somethings had changed! To be honest I love both Your’s and Mary’s work – so I’ll be supporting both! Because
of you two – Leo the whiz on the computer and Mary the tutor of assembly – I LOVE using my Silhouette Cameo! and look
