Day 158 and Beyond

Hard to believe that it has been 158 days since the launch of Dreaming Tree. How do I describe it? Exciting, scary, hard, easy, frustrating, sad, disappointing, fulfilling. You name the emotion, I’ve felt it! Soooo much has happened in the last five months and you’d never comprehend how quickly the time passed. I must have been having fun? LOL

I just want to begin this little update by giving credit where credit is due. First off, Mary (SVGCuts), my former partner in life, business and love, I didn’t realize how lucky I was to be able to watch you uncover your endless artistic talents. From your days of creating stock illustrations to taking over the SVG world with your endless imagination and spot-on precision and execution. You’ve set the bar very high for the 3D paper craft world and I’m grateful to have been able to witness it firsthand. You know the old saying, you don’t know what you have until its gone? Yeah, didn’t really know what that meant until now. In more ways then one.

Secondly, I want to take a minute to thank Kyle McDonald for his time with Dreaming Tree. Your confidence, creativity and technical aptitude will take you far. Good luck on your future ventures and thank you for helping get Dreaming Tree of the ground.

With that said, I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome our next 3D paper engineer, Diana Tam. Diana is a graduate from the Illinois Institute of Arts with a Fine Arts in Media Arts and Animation degree. I could tell from the moment I laid eyes on her portfolio that she was made for this role and she’s proved me right!

Last but not least, I would like to properly welcome Dreaming Tree’s art director, Ron Gutman. Ron Gutman comes to Dreaming Tree from Allentown, PA with 40 years of experience in the arts. I had the pleasure of spending an entire month with him, getting to know him and watching him work and I’ll admit, aside from myself, I’ve never seen someone so immersed in their craft. Plus he’s got MUCH more experience (in life and art) which makes him a sort of guru in my eyes. That and sometimes I need someone with life experience to give me a good smack across the head. Thanks, Ron! I’m in awe of the vastness that is your creativity.

If you take a look at our current catalog of content, you can pretty much pinpoint exactly when Ron started to take over the artistic direction. It’s very evident, at least in my opinion… and its beautiful. I really believe that there isn’t anyone more qualified in this world to “dream” up 3D paper craft products. Thank you Ron, for believing in Dreaming Tree and dealing with me during one of the most trying times in my life. We got this! You can see more of Ron’s work here: http://www.rongutmanstudio.com/

And finally, thank you to all of the amazing Dreaming Tree fans that have supported the site since our launch. It’s thanks to crafters and artists like you, that myself and my team are allowed the privilege to do what we love…create!

Our goal is to create not only a great product, but a great experience from start to finish. From shopping to checkout, to assembly and customer service. If anyone feels that we’ve come up short in any of these areas, please let me know! Dreaming Tree is yours too!

Happy March, everyone! (I can’t wait for spring!! LOL)

With gratitude,

Leo Kowal

Dreaming Tree Founder and Photographer

Leo, your designs and site are amazing! I am very new to the world of paper crafting. I have so enjoyed the items I have purchased from you and your free cuts too. Best of all, I most appreciate your how to videos.
    Thank YOU!

  2. Tris T says:

I can see your site progressing beautifully.
I really appreciate the included work sheets given with your files. Makes it so easy to pick materials to cut the project with. They make a great how to & also lets me know what I have for inspiration purposes as I add them to a binder. My earlier files don’t seem to have these, so I am presuming they are new.
I am hoping that you are going to make more of those pop-up cards with the 3D Christmas tree for all year round. That’s a hint by the way.
    Congrats

I have purchased most of your products.I enjoy putting my own spin on them. I am fond of svgcuts too. How about a mobile that can be hung in a child’s room or changed up for other spaces? Fairy garden themed items? Space and astronomy is great. I will purchase the light soon. I would say you and the team are doing great.

I am so grateful for this new direction of SVGs, to you and to your crew. It’s always a fun prospect when you post something new and I just wish time would slow down so I could cut more and cut more often. Keep on Keepin’ On.

Trying times are just the universe’s way of showing us how strong we can be if we choose to be! Having friends is a great way to get through these times. I’m sure I speak for all your friends on your Dreaming Tree fb page that you and your team are doing an AMAZING job. We LOVE everything you create as you can tell with all the positive comments. I know great things are going to come from the Dreaming Tree – it’s destined to be a creative force. I am excited for your future growth Leo and congrats on your new design team you are putting together. I believe your opportunities are endless and although bittersweet in some cases perhaps, you will succeed and will have crossover supporters that love both SVG and DT so kudo’s my friend… Thanks!!

  13. Dianne (lisaviolet) says:

You’ve come such a long way in a short time. I’m glad you’re feeling more positive about your life now, that’s a good thing. I look forward to many years of putting my own spin on your company’s creations.

Ron is awesome. I tried to talk him into moving to San Diego and being one of my neighbors so I could pick his brain, but he very sweetly redirected my scathingly brilliant plan. *lol* I’m glad he’s working with Dreaming Tree now so he can share his knowledge and creativity.

Leo you have achieved so much in such a short space of time. I know its been a steep learning curve both professionally and personally. Just carry on with what you do best; inspiring creativity, listening to and caring for your customers. We love your site and Mary’s too. May you both prosper and find contentment in all that you do. Thank you xxx

  15. Debbie says:

Leo you and Mary both are amazing and we now have two great places to purchase our files. I am loving all the products but since Ron came they really have blown us away. I can’t wait to see what is in store for you in the future. Keep the faith and hold your head high. God has big plans for you.

  16. Cris Nosack says:

I know it’s not the season yet but I would love to see some pop up Halloween cards! I love all your designs and it’s so exciting to watch your growth.

  17. Liz Swenson says:

I can’t think of anyone more dedicated to making a business work. It shows in your product, in your customer service, in your attitude. Watching Dreaming Tree grow over these past few months has been an inspiration! Keep the faith my friend. 🙂

  18. Donna says:

Congrats Leo. You and your growing team are designing very creative projects that are surprisingly easy to make, especially with the tutorial videos. They are unique, and certainly projects to be proud of when completed.

best wishes for continued success. (I also love Mary’s creations too).

  19. Jerri Rush says:

always a great job…and super designs.I;m with Julie T….I get the new ones as soon as they come out, so nothing to buy for freebies….maybe I just need to wait (HA!)….love everything so far…and even if its not something I;d make right away, its still great!

  20. Jeannie says:

Hello Leo, I love your site and you were the one who got me going into this wonderful craft. I thank you and your team for all the work and time you place into everything you do. Can’t wait to always see you new items. Wish you and your team the best and keep up the good work.

  21. gina says:

I so look forward to your releases – you’ve got a flair and soul to your designs I’ve not seen elsewhere – close – but not quite, and that’s what keeps me coming back! I’m one of those addicts that freebie offers don’t do any good for, cuz I’m buying new stuff up as soon as it comes out – so no way to take advantage of the offer!
You and your team are one of the best things to hit my Gazelle and the paper crafting world – IMHO!
Please keep up the good work!!

  22. reets says:

You are an amazing person Leo; I have always known that about you. You have many beautiful gifts and share your experiences as well as lessons. I wish you all the universe holds for you. You are a shining star!
