Hard to believe that it has been 158 days since the launch of Dreaming Tree. How do I describe it? Exciting, scary, hard, easy, frustrating, sad, disappointing, fulfilling. You name the emotion, I’ve felt it! Soooo much has happened in the last five months and you’d never comprehend how quickly the time passed. I must have been having fun? LOL
I just want to begin this little update by giving credit where credit is due. First off, Mary (SVGCuts), my former partner in life, business and love, I didn’t realize how lucky I was to be able to watch you uncover your endless artistic talents. From your days of creating stock illustrations to taking over the SVG world with your endless imagination and spot-on precision and execution. You’ve set the bar very high for the 3D paper craft world and I’m grateful to have been able to witness it firsthand. You know the old saying, you don’t know what you have until its gone? Yeah, didn’t really know what that meant until now. In more ways then one.
Secondly, I want to take a minute to thank Kyle McDonald for his time with Dreaming Tree. Your confidence, creativity and technical aptitude will take you far. Good luck on your future ventures and thank you for helping get Dreaming Tree of the ground.
With that said, I’d like to take this opportunity to welcome our next 3D paper engineer, Diana Tam. Diana is a graduate from the Illinois Institute of Arts with a Fine Arts in Media Arts and Animation degree. I could tell from the moment I laid eyes on her portfolio that she was made for this role and she’s proved me right!
Last but not least, I would like to properly welcome Dreaming Tree’s art director, Ron Gutman. Ron Gutman comes to Dreaming Tree from Allentown, PA with 40 years of experience in the arts. I had the pleasure of spending an entire month with him, getting to know him and watching him work and I’ll admit, aside from myself, I’ve never seen someone so immersed in their craft. Plus he’s got MUCH more experience (in life and art) which makes him a sort of guru in my eyes. That and sometimes I need someone with life experience to give me a good smack across the head. Thanks, Ron! I’m in awe of the vastness that is your creativity.
If you take a look at our current catalog of content, you can pretty much pinpoint exactly when Ron started to take over the artistic direction. It’s very evident, at least in my opinion… and its beautiful. I really believe that there isn’t anyone more qualified in this world to “dream” up 3D paper craft products. Thank you Ron, for believing in Dreaming Tree and dealing with me during one of the most trying times in my life. We got this! You can see more of Ron’s work here: http://www.rongutmanstudio.com/
And finally, thank you to all of the amazing Dreaming Tree fans that have supported the site since our launch. It’s thanks to crafters and artists like you, that myself and my team are allowed the privilege to do what we love…create!
Our goal is to create not only a great product, but a great experience from start to finish. From shopping to checkout, to assembly and customer service. If anyone feels that we’ve come up short in any of these areas, please let me know! Dreaming Tree is yours too!
Happy March, everyone! (I can’t wait for spring!! LOL)
